Today is Wednesday February 18, 2015. With only a slim chance of temperatures rising to close to the freezing mark this weekend the arctic temperatures continue in Orleans County. The ice on Lake Alice is reported to be at least 20 inches thick and fishing is very slow for those who wish to brave these conditions. The amount of open water continues to shrink due to the cold temperatures and the lack of water flow in the tributaries within Orleans County. There are reports of some Perch and Northern pike being taken thru the ice on Oak Orchard River from the bridges area to an area just past the marinas, but even that is spotty. With the amount of snow that has accumulated over the season so far, we can only hope for a slow melting period this Spring which should give us a great early tributary fishery. From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario the World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
