Panama - Boca Chica

Boca Chica

Panama--Offshore Salfish-- Very good numbers of sails coming up to plastics between Ladrones and Montuosa. Belly baits always work, but if bonito are hard to get, go plastic. Took a very good blue marlin just outside Isla Ladrones last week. Slow-trolled bonito. Estimated 550 lbs. Tomorrow starts 4 days of fly-fishing for billfish in that area. Dorado- the numbers that were being recorded three weeks ago have dwindled some, but there are still plenty around to keep the grill hot. Skirted cedar plugs are working well, but they´ll smash about anything. Tuna- They are off and on right now, but that area between Ladrones and Montuosa is always a good bet. James Weiss at Cebaco Bay has a ton of them down there around Aguja Reef. The Hannibal Bank is fishing well. Deep jigging will get big cubera snappers and tuna off the bank. When I travelled to Boca Chica from Costa Rica the other day, birds were diving on bait schools all along my route. Saw some small yellowfin tuna breaking on bait also. Good Fishing, Wherever You Are !! Capn Bob Baker [email protected]
