A short fishing report. 5-17-08 Tarpon are ready to turn on IF the West winds ever back off. We have enjoyed some good action but catching is not consistent yet. We have some great tides this week on the Full Moon and all those beautiful silver kings must eat. Crabs were already running on the outgoing tide last night. Snook are improving but closed to harvest. Not close to the numbers of fish we are used to seeing around the passes yet? Redfish tourney today so they are scared to death. Winds have kept us from looking for permit; I'm sure we have fish but need calm seas to catch them. Laci and Kevin Kriegel of Port Lavaca, Texas spent three days fishing with me. We did catch Laci a big tarpon and here first and several other snook. Kevin caught some nice snook to thirteen pounds but never got his chance for tarpon. We found plenty of fish and observed many hook ups but they were scared of him. They were celebrating their First anniversary; what a wife to go fishing to celebrate! We saw plenty of fish but they are not happy with all of this West wind. Let's go Fishin' soon. Captain Van Hubbard
