Pompano spawn on the spring full moon

Port Orange

The highlight of the week is the pompano bite around the Dunlawton Bridge. These fish are in the river spawning on the full moon and there are good numbers and size. The top of the tide and the first two hours of the outgoing tide have been best. A pompano jig tipped with a small shrimp has been working well. There are also tripletail on the channel markers from Port Orange to Daytona. A jig tipped with small shrimp can also do the trick with these fish, but the key is to get the top or bottom of the tide. The snook action is also good and should continue to improve. Dock lights at night have been the best bet. Free-lined jumbo shrimp will do the trick. {%image_id=53905%}
