The Redfish bite has been picking up the last couple of weeks in the Port Royal Sound area. I've had several excellent trips, with double digit numbers of Redfish. We are seeing schools of under slot fish beginning to show up now, as they leave the estuary and move into the bigger creeks and on the big water flats. I'm always glad to see them, as they are my living for the next 3 or 4 years. Schools of slot and over slot fish are showing stronger on the flats now. Had a trip this week and saw a couple of hundred fish on one flat. We worked them over pretty good, including fish up to 29 inches, and left them biting. The 11 year old wanted to go catch a Bonnethead shark and forget the Redfish. Geez! But we did just that. Have been catching them on carolina rigs, using live shrimp or live finger mullet. The bite should stay strong now the rest of the year. Hope to see the trout show here shortly.
