Report for Canyon Lake & Lake LBJ, Texas

Canyon Lake

CANYON LAKE LARGEMOUTH have pushed into the back of flooded creeks and are holding on the outside edges of buck brush & willows. Water clarity, which is normally very clear is now down to 3' and perfect for using 1/4 oz. white/chartreuse or silver Terminator spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Traps, 1 1/2" Creme Lit'l Fishie Shad or pitching spider grubs or working a purple or red shad Scoundrel worm on a wacky rig. Our clients are catching fish up to 4 1/2 lbs. with lots of school fish from 14"-16" coming on silver shad 'Traps worked down the middle of creek channels in 12' of water. On gravel flats and sloping points a motor oil or watermelon Creme Devil' Tongue on split shot rigs & Shootin' Shad plastic jerkbaits are good choices. Up the GUADALUPE RIVER work the mouth and into feeder creeks with 1/8 oz. silver Terminator buzzbaits, watermelon/chartreuse Scremer worms and Lit'l Fishie Shads. On stumpy flats our best fish are being taken on chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits and 'Traps. We anticipate the great fall patterns to continue into December with winter and spring fishing to be exceptionally good.
