San Juan River Early Febuaury Fishing Report

San Juan River

Hello Everyone, The river is flowing at around 500cfs. Water clarity is 3-4 feet. Some chunks of moss as usual. The upper areas have been fishing good with big ugly streamers, black, purple, or olive leeches. Red or orange #20-24 larva's, olive, and gray #20-22 larva's also getting eaten. Mid am a dark gray-black #24 midge hatching. #22-24 black zebra midge or black Krystal flash midge has been working for me. Yellow or golden nugget egg patterns getting crunched. The upper braids/ new habitat area is fishing good, but stand in line and take a number. The Texas hole down to the Crusher hole take out has been fishing good to great depending on weather and time of day. The above black zebra midge and larva's working in the am. Black midge clusters starting late am into early pm. Some beatis starting early afternoon. # 20-22 pheasant tails, fluff beatis, gray or chocolate cdc rs2's and rs2 foam wings. # 20-22 gray and black big macs around Duranglers corner late am into early pm. To all, come and get a wet, tight line on the San Juan before the Spring Break crowds. Tight Line's to All!
