Seatrout, Black Drum and Sheepshead in the Florida Everglades

Chokoloskee

Temperatures were seasonal through December with most days in the mid seventies. Despite that, the water temperatures dropped into the mid sixties and low seventies. The first week of the New Year, things have warmed up considerably and the water was up in the mid seventies and the fish were biting. Fished with Justin and Misty Porter from Oklahoma on Wednesday. The weather was a little chilly to me in the morning, however being from Oklahoma, Justin and Misty thought it was great. Fishing with live shrimp under a Cajun Thunder popping cork, we had a great day of fishing. It's hard to say how many fish we caught, but we used about 150 of the 200 hundred shrimp that I had in the livewell. Each spot we fished produced Redfish, Seatrout, Black Drum and Sheepshead, typical of this time of the year. Had a great time fishing with Justin and Misty, and hope to see them again in the Spring or Summer. Fished again on Sunday with Chris and his family. It was Dads birthday, and the three sons decided to take him fishing. Fishing was just like Wednesday. I nad 200+ shrimp in the well, and by 2:30 we were out. With 13 Seatrout, two Black Drum and a Sheepshead on ice, we decided to call it a day.
