September fishing report

St. Simons Island

Finally got out on the water today with my friend Aron to do some fishing after the flood tides we have had over the last week. We fished the last of the outgoing tide and the first of the incoming tide this morning the water was gorgeous and not a lot of current. At first we fished live shrimp on the edge of oyster beds and drop offs behind St Simons Island fishing in 3-8ft of water. The first spot we fished we were catching trout and redfish every cast it was a mixed bag of keeper trout but all of the redfish were in the slot limit and also caught one flounder that was 18 inches. We continued fishing the rivers and catching a good bit of fish until the current stopped at the bottom of the tide. Once we left the rivers we went out into the St Simons Island sound and fished for tripletail again the water was crystal clear we fished about 8ft deep and hooked into 3 really nice tripletail but only got 2 to the boat they were both over 24 inches. After fishing for the tripletail we fished a couple more spots picking up a few more trout and a couple more redfish. All in all we had a great day the weather was perfect and the fishing is picking up really good also there are still a lot of bull redfish and tarpon being caught off the beaches. Contact me at www.reelstokedfishing.com for any info on booking a trip theres a lot going on and the fall bite is just around the corner.
