Sheepshead Reluctant but the Trout were Hungry

Cape Coral

Tuesday, Jan 23rd, 2018, Ken Akin and I caught around 40 Speckled Sea Trout in the Mondongo Island area West of Pine Island. All catches were made on live shrimp, under a popping cork on a chartreuse, 1/4 oz jig head tied to a 4' mono leader on the edge of the grass flats, on the breaks in 4.5 to 5' of water. water temp 64.4F. Early slack tide offered no bites. When the tide began to Flow back in the bite picked up. Noon was best. We had overcast skies and experienced rain twice in the morning that soaked us. The rest was mostly a light mist to sprinkle. We also tried the old concrete dock supports at Boca Grande but only landed one small Sheepshead. The morning tide was just never right and a wall of rain was approaching from the SW so we left. All fish were released unharmed. It was an enjoyable morning. Every Trip is an Adventure with Tide Walker Charters. Till next Tide. Captain Russ {%image_id=57599%}
