Springtime in Anna Maria

Anna Maria

It is that time of year again. Anglers have to make a choice of what to fish for. Just about everything with fins is on the prowl. Tarpon are at the skyway bridge, Giant black drum are roaming the outside bars, Snook and Reds are in the shallow flats around the mangroves, big trout and spanish mackerl are on the deeper flats around the passes. Sheepshead are in full blown spawning mode we caught a ten pounder this past week. There are rummers of kingfish off the beaches and around the skyway bridge. A few cobia are starting to show up on the nearshore reefs. Pompano also are in the mood around the island passes. I have twenty two rod holders on the Fishy Business and sometimes I still have to strap rods to the tower for just in case. Good Fishing! Capt. Rick Gross
