Summer fishing off Anna Maria means getting on and off the water early. Most of my trips are half day this time of year and that is just fine with me. Mackerel fishing on the beaches could not be much better. In fact on some days it can just about be to fast. I try my best to keep track of how many fish go in the box, keeping the bigger fish to fillet. Most days when we get back to the dock the charter can not believe how many they kept. Snook are also on the beaches. Just about every piece of structure on the beach has a few fish on it. In fact snook are just about everywhere you would expect them for this time of year. This is a welcome site for everyone who likes to catch this great gamefish. Redfishing is getting better as the summer goes on. I have not found any of the bigger schools yet. This should happen soon as the late summer spawn starts. Then the biggest complaint is all the fish are to big to keep. What a problem to have.{%image_id=28054%}{%image_id=28055%}{%image_id=28056%} Trout are still a go to fish with the better fishing in deeper water. We did get a nice twenty two incher while fishing for reds in water less than two feet this week.{%image_id=28057%} Good Fishing! Capt. Rick Gross sarasotafishingwithrick.com
