Went for a change of pace this week. Headed out to the nearshore reefs to check out the spanish and mangrove bite. On wednesday we caught nice mangrove snapper while bottom fishing the one mile reef. When that bite slowed I started moving around and found a good bunch of flounder. Fish from thirteen inches to twenty three inches we kept seven. That afternoon we found a small group of reds near an oyster bar and managed at least a dozen with one small snook. Thursday I had a half day trip and headed to the reefs for more of the same. The first cast a baseball bat size spanish hit. For the next two hours it was a full blown mack attack. Some of these fish were running in the five pound range. After everyone had there fill we moved to the flounder hole. The fish where still there and we managed to bring five home to dinner. Good fishing! Capt. Rick Gross
