Bull Shoals

Subject: Schnable...Bull Shoals fishing report...West End Lake Level 647.1 (7 ft below normal) Water Temp 58 to 60 degrees Water is Clear to Stained Black Bass – Fair on jigs, spinner baits and drop shot rigs. The big blacks are hard to come by right now, but the spotted bass are starting to move up toward the banks. Finding the shad is key. Large crank baits off the steep sand drops has produced also. If the wind is up, try the rock bluffs with a white spinner bait, square billed crank bait or a wiggle wart. Crappie – Good on swimming minnows. Use a 1/16th oz, white Guppy head or a Road Runner head with a smoke and glitter swimming minnow. Fish the stumps and brush piles. Most are being caught in and around 20ft still. Same with live minnows. Walleye – Good off of the sand flats and deep pockets at the mouth of many coves south of K Dock. Trolling shallow crank baits and vertical fishing spoons have worked well. Other choices that are working are dragging live night crawlers and vertical fishing 3″ Pearl Sliders on an 1/8th oz. Long shank jig head. Hot crank bait colors have been: Blue and Silver, Purle and Silver and Fire Tiger. White Bass – Fair to Good when busting shad. Stay ready for when the water to explodes with whites feeding on the huge schools of shad that have been surfacing! Tie on a white Rooster Tail, small spinner bait or a lip-less crank bait.
